Change of Harte by Brooke Harris – Guest Post

Whoop!! Sexy Julian is BACK! Erotica author extraordinaire Brooke Harris is back with the sequel to the fabulous Rules of Harte and on 24th November, Change of Harte will be available to buy. I’m so, so excited to get Brooke onto WaW for a Q & A session. So, ladies, get ready…

But before you get too excited, let’s rewind.

Give us a quick introduction to your lead characters?
Eva (Evangeline Andrews) is starting over. She’s a New Jersey Girl in Dublin and desperate to be normal, but the secret she carries around is almost as hard to hide as her accent.

Julian Harte is hot, smart and a complete alpha as*hole.  He enjoys a challenge, but is always left sadly disappointed by his opponents. Then he meets Eva…

Visual representation of the characters?
Oh God I just love this part. Okay, so if I was Casting Director for the film I’d so be begging Josh Duhamel to play Julian. 6’2’’, dark brown eyes, dark brown hair, sallow skin. Have you seen that man in a three-piece-suit? Holy-hotness. All smoldering and broody. Yummy.

Julian Harte Josh

Eva is your understated beauty. 5’5’’, mousy-brown straight hair and bright green eyes.  Katie Holmes would be perfect. Think her Dawson Creek days.

Katie Holmes as Eva

What gets them out of bed in the mornings?
Eva is all about building a new life for herself, hiding her past and keeping her head down. All while freaking out about how to avoid the attention she’s attracting from her new boss.

For Julian? Bed is boring. He doesn’t spend much time in it. He can think of far more interesting places for a little *ahem*

What do we need to know about them?
They’re both good people, despite not always knowing that about each other. One of them is as broken as the other, but together they make a whole.

What do the both of they keep in their pockets/purses?
Eva has Watermelon Lip balm, some Clear Mascara and a folded invitation to a Black Tie Ball. She most likely has some dollars mixed in with the euros in her wallet.

Julian is far too much of an enigma to know what’s in his pockets *sigh*

What’s your favourite line from the book?
“You’re beautiful always, Evangeline but you’re perfect when you smile. You smile when you come.”

What can we expect from the sequel/your next book?
Change of Harte (Harte, #2) is out November 24th. I’m so excited to continue Julian and Eva’s story. Fans get to know the characters much better. I had so much fun writing this book. It was a bit like hanging out with old friends. Here’s what it’s all about…

Julian vows to put what Eva needs above what he wants. But what if she needs the truth?

Evangeline Andrews is home. Well, near enough. Even though she carries a crumbled piece of paper with her mother’s address in New Jersey on the back, she has an endless list of excuses not to visit. But unknown to Eva, the past is about to visit her. And it’s not accepting excuses.

Julian Harte is content to let whiskey and sex fill the Eva-shaped hole in his bed until he discovers the man who almost destroyed her is back in her life. Letting Eva go is no longer an option. But Julian will have to face his own demons when he leaves Dublin, and helping Eva will expose the secrets behind his games. Secrets which could leave her hating him forever.

Round Two. Game on. This time there are no rules.

O. M. G. Talk about hotness! Roll on November 24th. You can get yourself ready for Julian by getting your hands on Rules of Harte until then and you can also get in touch with Brooke on the following links. Go spread the world!

Meeting fellow travellers #3: Julien Moretto

So, last week, we met Adoki and you guys showed him a lot of love. I had readers as far afield as Singapore and Australia hitting that post, so here’s another.

Julien was one of the musicians I met in Uzes last year – the musicians who were pivotal in my decision to head to India, so its only fitting that I feature him next. He’ll also be out in Goa for the season and it’ll be so nice to catch up! I’m hoping to get his bandmate on for a joint Q & A soon…but for now:

Who is Julien?
I’m a musician from France and I started playing jazz/improvisation at 9 years old. I quit school when I was 15 because, for me, it wasn’t interesting. At 16, I made my first voyage to Africa for 4 months and then when I came of age, I went to India. I lived in Varanasi for 5 years where I studied classical Indian violin. I also developed a passion for alternative jewelry related to esoteric science. I design custom jewelry for people and what they need.

Tell me a bit about your music and what inspires you
I play a mixture of Indian and improvised music which is very appreciative of L. Shankar and L.Subramaniam. I believe we’re in an age where music no longer has borders and is accessible for everyone.

What was your ‘aha’ moment? (i.e. the moment you decided you wanted to hit the road)
When I was a teenager, I saw a documentary about Varanasi (Benares) and I think that was my ‘aha’ moment! It spoke about the River Ganges and sadhus (holy people) in this spiritual city where people go to ‘cleanse their karma’. A city where grand masters of Indian music lived and where the art was very appreciated and well developed.

Where’ve you been so far?
I’ve been to Africa, India, Bali, Taiwan and Europe.

What’s the best thing about being a travelling musician?
Well, it’s a real means of communication, a way to connect with people. There can be a language barrier with people but music is a language people of all ages and origins across the world can understand.

And what’s the worst thing about being a travelling musician?
It’s always too busy!

Where are you planning to go next?
I spend every winter in East Asia/India, but if I have the opportunity I’d love to discover Laos and Burma.

What are your top 3 tips/advice for anyone considering travelling?

  1. Always follow your intuition
  2. Try forget your old ‘shemas’, or habits and conditioning
  3. Be in the moment!

Big thanks to Julien for featuring on the blog. Julien, je te vois à Goa!!

#forfeit by Caroline Batten – Guest Post

I am BEYOND excited. Finally, Ms Caroline Batten is publishing her ace book, #Forfeit on 31st July 2014. I’ve been reading drafts of this for some time and she’s super talented, so I’m chuffed to have her on the blog for a quick Q & A. Without any further ado, I give you:

Forfeit Advert_Beige

Give us a quick introduction to your lead characters?

Daisy’s 25 years-old and into dance music, up-cycling old leather jackets handbags into couture handbags and increasing her high heel collection. She’s teaching overconfident posh kids at a private school in the Lakes. It’s hardly her dream job, but she’s got bugger all option after Finn, her actor husband, threw her out.

Xander is our eye candy. He’s a trained chef, but is currently working as a glorified holiday rep.

Visual representation of the characters?

Daisy’s 5’2” with white blonde curly hair and isn’t what she would call, conventionally pretty. Oh, she has a tiny diamond nose-piercing. In the movie, I’d love Juno Temple to play her.

Forfeit Advert_Daisy_nodate

Xander’s 22, 6’1”, dark blond hair with brown eyes. He’s a total piece of ass and a veritable Knight-In-Shining-Cricket-Pads. 🙂 6-pack abs, fabulous smile… the stereotypical hero. Max Irons could so play him.

Forfeit Advert_Xander_nodate

What gets them out of bed in the mornings?

Daisy has to get up to walk her dog, Birkin (named after her dream handbag) and if it’s not a school day, then she’ll be sanding skirting boards in the house she’s renovating.

Xander gets out of bed because Daisy’s not in it.

What do we need to know about them?

At a party, they and three friends, play Forfeit, the ultimate game of dares. Daisy’s dare is to kiss Xander and the simple kiss ignites their relationship. But £25,000 is up for grabs and the game’s called Forfeit for good reason.

What do the both of they keep in their pockets/purses?

Her: Phone, lip balm, ball for Birkin, purse with £20 in it on a good day, cigarettes, I ♥ Ibiza lighter. And her Forfeit dare card.

Him: Phone, wallet (which has a dried daisy stashed inside – a memento from the day they met). And his Forfeit dare card.

What’s your favourite line from the book?

‘I want my own restaurant and I want… you.’ He glanced back at her, shaking his head. ‘Seriously, I don’t know what you’ve done, but it’s killing me. The other week I actually stood in Boots smelling shampoos, trying to find the one you use. It’s coconut and lime, right?’

What can we expect from the sequel/your next book?

When Patrick’s photographed in flagrante with a local beauty queen, his father delivers an ultimatum: one more newspaper scandal and Patrick will be disowned – no house and no job at the family veterinary practice. Desperate not to lose his easy life in the country, Patrick needs to avoid trouble – and girls like ex-ballerina, Libby. She’s cast a Wicca spell to summon a new love: good-looking, honest, non-brown eyes, English, likes animals… in a nutshell, Patrick. But fighting Libby’s love spell will be the least of Patrick’s problems when an old lady dies from a ketamine overdose. The drug was stolen from his surgery and she’s the third woman to die in as many months. Tongues will wag.

Distraction is set in the same village as #Forfeit, so fans can expect familiar faces to pop up. It’s due for publication in February 2015.

Eek. I’m a huge fan of this #Forfeit (and Distraction – I’m a lucky girl having read it already 🙂 ) You can download #forfeit from 31st July, and you can also get in touch with Caroline on the following links. Go spread the world!
