Self-care tips for the premenstrual phase, submitted by you!
If you’ve ever been told to focus on self-care in your premenstrual phase, it was stellar advice to be given. This part of the cycle (and the transition into it) is a tricky place for many women, and self-cafe is needed because it’s a time when our focus usually turns inwards.
We can become self-critical, judgmental, intolerant, angry, sad, bloated, exhausted and totally over it all. But, we can also feel empowered, honest, analytical and ready to face the challenges our lives keep throwing at us.
How?
Self-care.
Self-care can encompass many things from the physical to the emotional, but it can mean different things to different people. The beauty of the menstrual cycle is that it’s unique to everyone, and so the tricks and tools we use to help align and soothe ourselves will be different too.
If you’ve ever wondered what other women do to help themselves when it comes to PMS and those premenstrual feels, I’ve got you!
So, I asked my followers to share what their self-care go-to’s for this phase of the cycle. This is what they said:
A morning walk in the park - Maria
Seed cycling and breathwork - Olivia at @oliviafelicemendoza
Getting daylight in the morning - Nour at @kayalinyoga
Yoga nidra - Claudia @claudia.menger
Writing a celebration list - Hannah @womb_wisdom
Pumpkin spice - Kortlan
Drinking more tea, eating soup and Harry Potter - Selina @howl.wood
Get outside and slow down - Elizabeth @myclubred
Move my body - Amanda @fertility_rising
And from me personal favourite:
Walking my dog without my phone for quiet time
Most of these are physical self-care tips, but it can extend to so much more - the kind of self-care we typically want to run away from.
In my next post, I’ll be sharing some of those as well as how to prioritise them to make them happen.
Thanks to everyone who submitted their tips!
